Privacy
The short version: the app doesn’t watch you, and I don’t want your data. The desktop app has no account and no telemetry. Your settings, equipment, session log and photos live in a folder on your own machine and never leave it.
What the app sends
The app talks to the internet only to do its job, and only two of those calls involve anything about you: fetching a weather forecast for your saved coordinates, and — for Pro subscribers — checking your key’s status (the key carries the email you bought with).
Pro’s live narration sends the engine’s computed facts for the night (targets, numbers, conditions; nothing personal) to my server so the debrief can be written. The rest is anonymous housekeeping, the same as visiting a public webpage: downloading target preview images from the sky-survey service, the current comet and supernova lists, and — on launch — asking GitHub for the latest release number so the app can tell you when an update exists.
Nothing about you or your setup is sent. (The Microsoft Store version skips that last one; the Store handles its own updates.) If you use the Settings map or town search, your typed search and pin location go to the map and geocoding services, purely to answer that lookup. Turn the network off and everything but live weather and narration still works — the nightly decision is computed on your own machine.
This website and purchases
This website is hosted on Framer and uses its basic, cookieless analytics — page counts, not profiles. Purchases are processed by Stripe as merchant of record: they handle your payment details and email, and I receive your email address and order details so I can issue your key and help you when you write in. I don’t sell or share any of it.
